1. Education only
Our articles, reference ranges, and calculator results help you learn lab terms. They help you prepare for a visit with your doctor. They do not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition.
2. No doctor-patient relationship
Using this site does not make anyone here your doctor. We do not know your history, symptoms, or medicines. Advice built for you needs that information.
3. Talk to a clinician
Ask your doctor or another qualified provider about your results. Do not ignore their advice because of something you read here. Do not delay care for the same reason.
4. Reference ranges differ
Our ranges are typical US values. They follow Quest Diagnostics, LabCorp, and ARUP. Your report prints the range your lab used, and that range comes first. Age, sex, pregnancy, and health conditions can also shift what is normal for you.
5. Calculators give estimates
The Lab Report Decoder, A1c calculator, and eGFR calculator use published formulas. They produce estimates. Your lab's own reported value is more exact.
6. Emergencies
Call 911 or your local emergency number if you think you have a medical emergency. Chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke signs, and severe bleeding are examples. Do not use this website for urgent needs.
7. Accuracy
We work to keep our pages correct. Medicine changes, and mistakes happen. We make no promise that the content is complete or current. If you find an error, tell us.
8. External links
Some pages link to sources such as the CDC and NIH. We do not control those sites. See also our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
